Stacia Klein Madden stands out as one of the most successful and dedicated trainers of young, developing show jumping talent in the United States. She was a top junior rider from Indiana winning the 1987 ASPCA Maclay Finals and placed in both the AHSA Medal Finals and the USET Finals . As a professional rider, she was highly successful in both the hunter and jumper ring showing top hunters Another Affair, Copper Creek, Dark Harbor, Hidden Treasure, Kawamaha, and Manifesto to championships at shows such as Winter Equestrian Festival, Devon Horse Show, Lake Placid Horse Shows, Hampton Classic, Pennsylvania National Horse Show, Washington International Horse Show, and The National Horse Show before shifting her concentration to the training aspect of the business. She has trained several of the most promising junior riders who have gone on to represent their countries at the highest levels of International competition such as Brianne Goutal, Jessica Springsteen, Karen Polle, Mimi Gochman, Katherine Strauss, Sydney Shulman, and Lucy Deslauriers to name a few.
Although Stacia is the head trainer, much of Southern Show Stables’ success could not be without the rest of their established team comprised of Krista Freundlich, Heather Senia Williams, Lydia Ulrich, Katie Kanner, Abby Jorgensen, Josie Elliott and Katie Bremen.
Over the years, our students have collected championship titles at every single National equitation final including USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals, USEF Hunter Seat Medal Finals, the Washington International Horse Show Equitation Finals, and ASPCA Maclay Finals. Notable alumni who have won those titles include Kristy McCormack, Brianne Goutal, Jessica Springsteen, Chase Boggio, Madison Goetzmann, Eli Yeager, and Dominic Gibbs.
In the jumper ring, Southern Show Stables has a presence at all of the major show jumping competitions throughout the year including North America Youth Championships, Prix Des States at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, and the Markel/USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships. For years, our horse and rider combinations have ridden to podium finishes on these stages in their respective divisions and qualified for some of the most prestigious classes of a junior rider’s career.
Not to be outdone by the equitation and jumpers, hunters at Southern Show Stables have made their mark at the top venues in the country as well. Our horses jumped to championship titles at The Hampton Classic, Capital Challenge, Junior Hunter Finals, and during WCHR week at the Winter Equestrian Festival.
